Turning from Sin
"If the wicked man turns away from all the sins he committed, if he keeps all my statutes and does what is right and just, he shall surely live, he shall not die." (Ezekiel 18:21)

I remember a couple of years ago, I decided to go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. I thought to myself that I really didn’t have any mortal sins to confess, as it was only a few weeks since my last Confession. I was pretty proud of myself in that moment. I was a saint.
As I stood in line, waiting for my turn to enter the Confessional, the Holy Spirit started reminding me of the sins I committed in the past few weeks. I originally started my wait thinking about what a saint I was, but by the time I entered the Confessional, I knew the truth. I was truly in need of the Sacrament.
I’ve been to the Sacrament of Reconciliation probably hundreds of times. Each time I've hungered to receive the Sacrament, I've been able to do so. And every time I've left the Confessional, I've felt great.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is an amazing gift from our God. Receive it often. And if it’s been awhile since you’ve confessed your sins, don’t wait any longer. Your sins will be wiped away. You will receive strength to avoid sin, and your sins will remain a secret between you, the Priest, and God. Embrace the gift… and give praise to God for the Priesthood!
Is my soul pure?
Heavenly Father, you give us the Sacrament of Reconciliation to cleanse and purify us. Purify me, O Lord my God. Amen.
