Lent was a blessing for me this year, because I had the realization that I had become a slave of my cellphone. Scrolling was damaging me, as it probably is damaging you as well. And then one day, I felt the Lord tell my heart to put the phone down and pick up spiritual reading instead. The shackles were being removed from me, and before I knew it, I was learning more about the faith, feeling less stressed, and wondering what book would be next.
While they can be useful tools, if a cellphone is keeping you from spiritual growth, then it is a shackle, and you are a slave. Put it down for 20 minutes today, and see what happens.
Has technology kept me from spiritual growth?
Heavenly Father, you have chosen me, please free me. Rid me of the shackles that keep me from a closer relationship with You. Amen.
