"Therefore, I say to you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit." (Matthew 21:43)

I bet Jesus would be good contributor to the Farmer’s Almanac. After all, he knew when and where to fish, he knew something about the weather, and he knew about planting and harvesting.
Today’s parable from Matthew’s Gospel talks about producing good fruit, a farmer, tenants, and unfortunately greed. God (the landowner) sends his son (Jesus) to make repairs to his vineyard (Israel), but the tenants (scribes and Pharisees) kill the son. This parable served as a sign to the rulers in Israel to change their ways. It serves as an example for us today to do the same. In today’s society, we cut each other with words and action and there’s no respect for life as God intended.
Instead of worldly things, we should put our trust and hope in Jesus, the cornerstone of the church. Our church today has been under fire, but despite it all, when we put our hope and trust in God’s hands, goodness will prevail.
Do I really trust Jesus in all my matters or just when I need him?
Holy Spirit, guide me in your ways so that I may have the courage to more deeply trust in you! Amen.
