Take Action
“Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21)

We may talk a big game, but if we don’t have the action to back it up, it will always fall short as simply words. Jesus reminds us about something basic. Not only does he call us to follow him, he also calls us to action, such as to volunteer our time and talents. How can God come to know us if we keep to ourselves, as if our lives are a secret?
If we keep to ourselves, then we are making ourselves hidden from God. St. Mother Teresa said, “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” Effort, at the best of our ability when applied and aligned with God’s will, helps us in our goal to enter the Kingdom of heaven. So, take heed, and take action.
What can I change in my routine that impacts my community, workplace, or home life that may line up with what God is calling me to do?
Lord, grant us the insight to know your calling and the strength to act upon it. Amen.
