Surrender to the Lord

"The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.” (Psalm 23:1)

Growing up, my mom would always say “From what we have at home nothing is missing." It might make more sense in Spanish, but she would always say this when I would complain about something we didn’t have. She would remind me that God will give us everything we need, which means we already have everything. It was a tough lesson throughout my middle/high school years when I would compare myself to those around me.

In the Gospel we hear “for they were like sheep without a shepherd”. There are so many ways that we become sheep without a shepherd, aimlessly moving through life trying to take control. We find ourselves tired and lost. We need a shepherd who will guide us, keep us safe, and provide for us. We need Jesus who is our shepherd. Trust that he will care for you and provide for you. We have so many things in our hearts that feel so heavy that we cannot carry them, that we cannot accomplish. We need to surrender them to the Lord. Allow Him to care for you.

What do you need to surrender to the Lord? How can you trust more in Him?

O Jesus, I surrender myself to you. Take care of everything. I trust in you. Amen.
