Source of Life
“Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live, by loving the LORD, your God, heeding his voice, and holding fast to him.” (Deuteronomy 30:19-20)

In today’s first reading we read about a pivotal moment in the covenant relationship between God and His people. Moses tells the Israelites that they must choose between a blessing and a curse. If they love God, serve Him and follow the ten commandments, they choose life. If they choose to disobey Him and worship false gods, then they choose death.
We are faced with the same choice today, which the evil one desperately tries to distract us from. God is THE source of life, however we try to hold fast onto other things besides Him. Luckily, Lent gives us the opportunity to refocus and reflect on the areas of our hearts that need to be resurrected.
So, in what areas of our lives have we chosen death over life?
Let’s reject those things and say yes to the Lord’s invitation to love and follow Him, and surrender our hearts to His care.
How can God revive my heart this Lenten season?
Heavenly Father, you are the only true source of life. Convict my heart when I try to find comfort or revival outside of Your care. Amen.
