Our "Yes"
"On your part, you and your descendants after you must keep my covenant throughout the ages." (Genesis 17:9)
"On your part, you and your descendants after you must keep my covenant throughout the ages." (Genesis 17:9)
The patriarch Abraham is a biblical figure we may remember for the great test with nearly sacrificing his son Isaac, trusting in the Lord in a seemingly impossible situation.
Too often, you and I may find ourselves being tested, or tempted, to put our relationship with God aside when much is demanded of us. Yet, the relationship we are called to have with God is more than a formality but indeed a living covenant. We can see covenants daily in marriages; especially, when a spouse chooses to say “yes” daily, despite the temptations and challenges therein.
The daily “yes” in our vocations gives others a glimpse at the faithfulness of God. Specifically, our God refuses to walk away from us but rather endures our unique behavior, keeping His word and maintaining the relationship established with us.
With what is left of Lent, why not consider how faithful are we in our covenant with the Lord? Where does He need us to say “yes” to Him?
My Lord and my God, you call us to be one with you, help me remain yours. Amen.
