Knowing the Healer

“Unable to get near Jesus because of the crowd, they opened up the roof above him. After they had broken through, they let down the mat on which the paralytic was lying.” (Mark 2:4)

Can you imagine this scene? The paralytic man had been struggling for years and his friends knew that Jesus, the Healer, was in town. His friends knew that if they could just get him in front of Jesus, he would be healed. The crowd was large and they were unsure how they would get him in front of Jesus. There was no other option than to go through the roof. Let that reality sink in. They were so confident in Jesus the Healer, that they climbed the roof with their friend (who was a grown man) in a stretcher, broke through the ceiling, and lowered him in front of Jesus.

I pray that the urgency, dedication, and faith of the friends of the paralytic man may truly impact us. May we, like the friends, approach Jesus with such a boldness and urgency, trusting that He can heal our ailments. Today, let us pray that we may know the Healer, and through knowing Him, trust in Him to heal our brokenness.

How can I boldly approach Jesus the Healer today?

Oh, Good Jesus, increase my faith in You. Amen.
