Jesus Saves

Optional Memorial of Saint Januarius, Bishop and Martyr

"So I tell you, Her many sins have been forgiven." (Luke 7:47)

The readings for us today, seem like a desperate attempt by Jesus to communicate to all of us once again that HE saves us! That’s it. Bottom Line. No edits, or changes necessary. I feel like to Jesus we must sound like total and complete idiots.

Consider this:

The woman who once lived a life of sin, who was a prostitute? Yes, Jesus will die for her and save her from her past.

The man named Paul, who persecuted Christians and even led some to their deaths? Yes, Jesus will save him as well.

The grumpy old man who spewed harsh words at those trying to help? Yes, Jesus extends His salvation to him too.

The woman who endlessly complained about her circumstances to everyone around her instead of seeking solace through prayer? Yes, Jesus saves her as well.

Jesus saves everyone. If you’re reading this reflection, you likely already know this truth. Yet, how often do we struggle to believe it applies to us personally? How often do we feel unworthy of His love and forgiveness?

Jesus came to save every single one of us. All we need to do is believe in this truth, accept it with open hearts, and live in the light of His boundless love. Thank You, Jesus, for this incredible gift of salvation.

What areas of your past do you have trouble forgiving?

Thank you Jesus, for your goodness and mercy! Amen.
