Imitating St. Jude
“Through him the whole structure is held together and grows into a temple sacred in the Lord; in him you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:21-22)

To say that the last few weeks have been wild is such an understatement. What we have encountered in our communities is so hard to process and reckon with, but the Lord is still calling us.
Today is the feast of our diocesan patron St. Jude the Apostle and I want to share two points that can help us during this time.
- St. Jude is known as the patron saint of impossible causes. As we continue in the aftermath of the hurricanes, we need to trust in a God who is faithful, powerful, and loving even during impossible causes.
- We are also seeing so many serving their neighbors. In the gospel we hear the apostles being called by name to follow Christ. In the first reading it says, “You are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones”. You are being called to follow and serve Christ; you are no longer a stranger.
May St. Jude pray for us to have faith and trust in the Lord as we face the impossible and to have the courage to say yes to following the Lord.
What is the Lord asking of you during this time? How can you follow Him?
St. Jude, pray for us! Amen.
