God's Marvelous Deeds

"Proclaim God's marvelous deeds to all the Nations." (Psalm 96)

In today’s readings we are first reminded that our Lord loves us like a spouse and no matter how many times we get off track, He will restore our honor, renew our identity and guide us back towards an intimate and joyful relationship with Him. This message fills me with hope and is truly marvelous, and there are so many times in my life that I can claim this message as reality.

Immediately after this reading from Isaiah we are reminded in the Psalm to “Proclaim His marvelous deeds to all the nations.” When I hear this, I almost get a little embarrassed about how much the Lord has done for me that I haven’t proclaimed to all the nations. I haven’t posted these things on Facebook, heck, sometimes I haven’t even proclaimed it to my own Husband. So here I go.

The Lord has made it so that I am able to work at a parish and do wonderful things in his name. He has provided in so many ways, for example volunteers for hospital ministry at the very moment that a previous volunteer was unable to continue in the ministry. He has provided provisions for my family to be able to afford to send multiple kids to college, while others attend Catholic Schools, even though it seemed like it would be impossible. (I love God Math – If you know you know.) Despite what sometimes seems like insurmountable barriers, the Lord has time and time again helped me overcome challenges and hardships. He really is SO GOOD.

Focusing on all that the Lord has done in my life already, makes it so much easier to trust that he will continue to provide for my needs. And sometimes, just as he did at the wedding at Cana, he will even provide for my totally unnecessary wants. (I mean – did they really NEED more wine?)

When was the last time you proclaimed God’s Marvelous Deeds?

Lord, thank you for all that you have done in my life. Forgive me for the times I have not acted graciously. Amen.
