First Place
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be.” (John 1:1-3)
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him, and without him nothing came to be.” (John 1:1-3)
Before everything, Jesus is. If we hold on to this truth in everything we do, our lives will be simpler. As we stand on the brink of a new year, let us place Jesus where He belongs: at the very beginning of everything. Ahead of us lie many unknowns—joys and sorrows alike.
Though the world may seem to be growing darker, we who have received Jesus carry with us the unwavering hope that God will triumph. This new year calls us to conversion and challenges us to live the Gospel boldly. May the lessons of the year gone by lead us to grow and seek more of God.
As we prepare to close this year and embrace the new one, let us reflect on the words of today’s Gospel: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made.” The Word made flesh is with us.
What place does Jesus occupy in your life?
My God, may this year we are expecting be a year of conversion in which You are in the first place in our minds and hearts. Amen.
