Faith in Action: Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School Spreads Hope

At Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School in Lutz, students and faculty dressed in pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness and honor those impacted by the disease. With a simple $5 donation, families came together in compassion and mercy — raising funds for the school’s service projects while also spreading hope to those who are suffering.

The day was filled with smiles, unity, and a reminder that even the smallest acts of love can carry great meaning. Students reflected on what the day meant to them and how their faith inspires them to live out mercy through kindness and care for others.

Seventh grader Aaliyah shared, “Wearing pink today shows how our little actions can help the people who are sick and are battling their sickness. Our small act of wearing pink can drive someone to keep fighting!”

In addition to their reflections, students offered prayers for those who are ill and for the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who care for them. Madeline, a seventh grader, wrote:

“Dear Father, I pray to you that you will heal those spiritually and physically in need. I ask of you to give hope to the people who take care of them, and those with the illness. May you spread the Holy Spirit to those in need and distress. In this we pray, Amen.”

Principal Lisa Gonzalez expressed her pride in the students’ faith-filled participation: “We are so proud of our students for connecting their faith to real-life service. Their words and actions remind us that even small gestures, when done with love, can bring Christ’s light to others.”

Mother Teresa once said, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” Pink Dress Day at MTC reflected that truth — showing how a simple act like wearing pink can become a symbol of compassion, unity, and living the Gospel call to love and serve one another in Christ.
