Courageously Sharing the Gospel
"And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage. Then Jesus said to them, 'Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.'” (Matthew 28:9-10)

Alleluia, the Lord has risen as He said! On this first Monday of the Easter Octave, we find Mary Magdalene and the other Mary excited, for they had encountered an angel who told them that the Lord had risen and was not in the tomb. The angel instructed them to go to Galilee to meet the others.
On their way, a few moments later, they run into Jesus, and fall to the ground paying him homage. Just a couple of days earlier, they witnessed him die on the cross, yet here he was conversing with them. He was alive, he had risen as he said! He defied all that we know that is natural and was standing before them. They fell to their knees in praise.
If you saw this, would you be afraid? For many there would be some fear and disbelief. Would you go tell others? You might, but you may be careful who you told out of fear of persecution or others thinking you are crazy. Today, many face these same fears. They are reticent sharing their love of Jesus with strangers, or even friends. Many are afraid of pushback just inviting someone to church with them.
Our egos can bruise easily, and we are afraid of the unknown. Jesus calls us to courageously live the Gospel, not just when it’s convenient, but at all times. This is our challenge this Easter and each day.
How often do I share the Gospel with others outside of Church?
Holy Spirit, place an abundance of courage on my heart that I might proclaim Jesus as Lord in my interactions with others! Amen.
