Citizen of Heaven
“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will change our lowly body to conform with his glorified Body by the power that enables him also to bring all things into subjection to himself.” (Philippians 3:20-21)

Some are rejoicing while others are not. Everyone is shouting, fighting for who they think will be the best president. Even days later, there is still an unsettling feeling amongst friends and family. Many “unfriending” people on social media and even in real life. But truly, I think we lost a bit of ourselves this week, we lost our identity in Christ.
Paul tells us in the first reading“Join with others in being imitators of me, brothers and sisters, and observe those who thus conduct themselves according to the model you have in us. For many, as I have often told you and now tell you even in tears, conduct themselves as enemies of the cross of Christ.”
So, I ask you, who is your identity in? Is it in a political party or in Christ? Are you imitating and observing Christ or being enemies of His cross? May we reflect on what it means to be true citizens of heaven who await a savior, Jesus.
How can I better live as a citizen of Heaven?
Lord, please bless all current and elected government officials. May they come to know you in their hearts and follow your ways. Amen.
