Boldly Ask
Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...“'Young man, I tell you, arise!' The dead man sat up and began to speak." (Luke 7:14-15)

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I can be a little self-sufficient. This typically works for a short time, until I come face to face with the reality that God is God and I am not.
Oftentimes, we can be hesitant to call upon the Lord and ask Him for what we need. We can adopt the disposition that what we need might be too big of an ask and so we try to handle it on our own. We can place God in a nice box and continue throughout our life trying to answer our own prayers and provide for our own needs.
Today’s Gospel completely defeats these common lies that we can believe. The Lord rose a young man who was previously dead. Jesus did not just allow the young man to open his eyes, but rather, allowed him to get up and speak! The young man’s mother approached the Lord with deep trust knowing that He was the only one who could fulfill this huge prayer that she had.
Today, may we take God out of the box that we can keep Him in. Let us approach Him in holy boldness, knowing that we do not need to be self-sufficient, and trusting that He will answer our prayers in His perfect timing.
What do I need to boldly ask the Lord for today?
Oh, Good Jesus, increase my trust in You today. Amen.
