An Act of Love

"Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil made from genuine aromatic nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair." (John 12:3)

Life can be filled with missed opportunities. So often we hear stories of regret, especially when a loved-one passes away. “I wish I did this… I should have done that…” Mary wasn’t about to let that happen. So she took what was probably her most expensive possession, and she used it as a gift to the Lord. Imagine how full and emotional her heart was at that moment.

Contrast that with Judas, who saw an act of love and instead of praising it, criticized it. When our hearts a filled with resentment for someone instead of love, it’s easy to fall into the trap that that person can’t do anything right.

This is a beautiful week to be like Mary by showing someone an act of love. Don’t miss the opportunity.

Whose feet in my life do I need to anoint?

Heavenly Father, as Mary anointed the feet of our Lord, help us to show an act of mercy toward someone, and help us to see the good in everyone, even our enemies. Amen.
