Women Find True Belonging and Connection

The Tampa Magnificat Ministry provides a space for women to gather together, imitate Mary’s virtue of authenticity, and grow in community with one another and grow closer to the Lord. The diversity within the Magnificat community enhances the experience of true belonging and connection.

“The Tampa Magnificat gives women in the Diocese of St. Petersburg an opportunity to see that they are not alone, especially as they seek to follow Mary’s example,” said Father Connor Penn, Spiritual Adviser for the Tampa Magnificat Chapter.

The Magnificat Ministry began on October 7, 1981, encouraged by the late Bishop Stanley Ott and Archbishop Philip Hannan of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, and is now an international ministry spread across the world.

Kat Cooper is a Coordinator for the Tampa Magnificat Ministry and has been a member since 2016. During her first experience at Magnificat, she experienced a healing that restored sight to her left eye. She was born with congenital amblyopia, a birth defect that causes vision loss and other difficulties.

“I experienced a partial healing; I could see much clearer with better depth perception. There were several healings that day,” said Cooper.

Cooper emphasizes that, “Magnificat is wonderful in that you can participate as much or as little as you are called.”

Tampa’s Magnificat Ministry hosts various events throughout the year.
