Tampa Catholic High School Celebrates New Athletic Facility

Tampa Catholic High School recently unveiled their new Kevin Knox II Fieldhouse to faculty, students, alumni, and donors. The $6M state-of-the-art facility was funded by a $2M donation from NBA player Kevin Knox II, a 2017 graduate of Tampa Catholic High School, and current Atlanta Hawks basketball player.

The new facility adds 10,500 sq. feet and will be used by all students at Tampa Catholic.

The Kevin Knox II Fieldhouse is home to:

  • Coach Don Dziagwa Court
  • John & Lydia Oliva Fitness Center
  • Prado Family Hall of Fame Promenade

Kevin’s inspiration for the donation was guided by the values taught by his parents, Michelle and Kevin. Sr., along with the lessons he learned from high school coach, Don Dziagwa.

“Tampa Catholic gave me two gifts that go with me on the court and in life. Coach Dziagwa allowed and encouraged me to grow as a leader and the school as a whole gave me an education that created more awareness of the world around me,” said Kevin Knox II. “This gift is generational because our entire family can enjoy it for years to come and that was important to me.”

To celebrate the grand opening, Tampa Catholic hosted events earlier this month to unveil the space in an intimate setting, in this order:

  • Wednesday, May 4th: Tampa Catholic faculty & staff walk-through
  • Thursday, May 5th: Kevin Knox & donor event, walk-through
  • Friday, May 6th: Students, families & alumni walk-through & barbeque

“Gifts like this from someone at such a young age is extraordinary in and of itself but to know that every student in our community will benefit because that was Kevin’s desire is extra special,” said Robert Lees, Principal, Tampa Catholic High School. “We are humbled and grateful beyond words for his generosity.”

Knox II, currently 22 years old, attended Tampa Catholic from 2013 - 2017. Beyond the acclaim he earned as a student-athlete, Kevin's kindness is fondly remembered by his classmates, teachers, and coaches. Kevin has three younger siblings: Kobe, Tampa Catholic alumni, Karter, current Tampa Catholic student, and Ashley.
