St. Raphael Parish Seeking Volunteers for Large Relief Effort

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, many in the Snell Isle and surrounding neighborhoods are still dealing with damage and loss including some residents who have been unable to leave or clean out their homes.

St. Raphael Parish has been coordinating a relief effort and is in need of volunteers. They are focusing on 9 initiatives to serve all of the souls in the community with dignity:

  • Outreach- Join us! We are getting boots on the ground, and coming together as a community to help.
  • Remediation- need a hand/lend a hand (clean up, hauling, moving, repairs with safe vendors)
  • Storage- a safe place to put items to keep (storage units, garages, extra attic space, or spare bedrooms)
  • Housing- short and long term solutions
  • Transportation- Grocery store run, pharmacy, get to a doctor, or carpooling - let's figure it out together.
  • Provisions- Give or lend items, from kitchenware to clothing to generators and fans.
  • Pets- Pet food, litter, leash, fostering, or rehoming your furry family members.
  • Claim Support (Insurance & FEMA)- Navigating the claims process and avoiding bad actors.
  • Spiritual Support- Prayer, comfort, and support. You are not alone, do not despair.

St. Raphael Parish has created a WhatsApp group with subgroups for these different initiatives in order to coordinate efforts. All are welcome. For more information, contact the parish at 727-821-7989.
