St. Jude the Apostle's Relic to Visit Tampa and St. Petersburg for the First Time

The arm of St. Jude the Apostle, also known as the Apostle of the Impossible, is touring the United States and will be available for veneration in the Diocese of St. Petersburg. The Catholic evangelization ministry, Treasures of the Church, announced that the relic will be on display at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tampa on Wednesday, February 28th and at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle in St. Petersburg on Thursday, February 29th. St. Jude the Apostle is also the patron saint of the Diocese of St. Petersburg.

Father Carlos Martins, director of Treasures of the Church, will accompany the relic to cities across the U.S. This marks the first time the relic has left Italy.

“The Apostle’s visit is an effort by the Catholic Church to give comfort and hope to all who need it,” said Father Martins.

“St. Jude is the one to whom people turn when they are desperate and have tried everything else.  When things seem lost or unbearable—when they seem hopeless—St. Jude is the one to whom people often turn,” according to the website with information about the relic.

Father Martins, who has been ministering with relics for almost 30 years, remarks, “God never disappoints but always ‘shows up’ at an exposition. There are healings at each one. Thousand have been reported to me. Spectacular ones. Attendees have reported cancer, heart disease, tumors, osteoporosis, physical deformities, etc., disappear immediately and completely.”

Though a great number of miracles have been physical (www.TreasuresOfTheChurch.com lists a sample of these), he admits that the most spectacular is the healing of faith, where a new and deeper relationship with God and His saints form in the faithful. “It is wonderful to see a parish, school, or prison renewed after an exposition. That is the basis for this ministry’s existence, and I cannot wait to see how St. Jude will add to it.”
