Following exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Dr. Thomas Humphries, professor of theology, will present a short reflection on Pope St. John Paul II's “Theology of the Body” as the foundation for a deeper Eucharistic spirituality.
This is part of Saint Leo’s participation in the National Eucharistic Revival and continued catechesis on our Catholic faith.
The community is invited to attend, 7-8 p.m., Thursday, April 11, in the Upper Chapel of the Saint Leo Abbey Church. Parking is available in campus lots at 33701 County Road 52, St. Leo, FL 33574. Participants are invited to arrive a few minutes early so as to settle into prayer.
The book Man and Woman He Created Them, popularly known as "A Theology of the Body," features a series of addresses by St. John Paul II, and is considered one of the most important theological works of the 20th century.
Humphries will discuss St. John Paul II’s addresses, and explore how our existence in a body are a gift from God, giving us the capacity to give ourselves.
