For nearly four decades, the Feast of Santo Niño has been a radiant beacon of faith, unity, and cultural celebration nestled within the vibrant Diocese of Saint Petersburg.
Now in its 38th year, this beloved tradition continues to draw thousands of faithful, transforming the parish into a joyful tapestry of prayer, music, dance, and devotion.
A Celebration Rooted in Faith
At the heart of the celebration is the Santo Niño—Holy Child Jesus, whose image evokes deep reverence and childlike trust in God. The feast begins with a solemn novena, followed by a grand procession where families, ministries, and cultural groups carry colorful banners and statues of the Santo Niño, each adorned with flowers and traditional attire. The Eucharistic celebration becomes a powerful moment of communal worship and thanksgiving.
A Festival of Culture and Evangelization
Beyond liturgy, the Feast of Santo Niño celebrated every third Sunday of January, is a cultural showcase—a living catechesis that blends Filipino heritage with Catholic tradition. Sinulog dances, rhythms, and devotional chants echo through the church grounds, inviting all generations to participate. Children dressed as little Santo Niños, elders offering prayers of gratitude, and youth leading praise songs embody the intergenerational spirit of the event.
This celebration is not just a cultural memory—it’s a mission of evangelization. Over the years, it has become a gateway for many to return to the Church, rediscover their faith, and connect with a community that welcomes them with open arms.
A Source of Unity and Inspiration
The Feast of Santo Niño has become a spiritual anchor for the Filipino-American community and beyond. Ministries such as Couples for Christ, Gawad Kalinga, and all Filipino devotional groups play vital roles in organizing and animating the event. Parishioners of all backgrounds join in, making it a true multicultural celebration of Christ’s love.
Each year, the feast renews the parish’s commitment to service, joy, and discipleship. It reminds the faithful that, like the child Jesus, we are called to trust, to serve, and to rejoice in the presence of God.
