Celebrating Catholic Education Throughout the Diocese
Annually, National Catholic Schools Week is dedicated to promoting and celebrating Catholic education throughout the country during the last week of January.
Annually, National Catholic Schools Week is dedicated to promoting and celebrating Catholic education throughout the country during the last week of January.
Our Catholic schools find unique and creative ways to celebrate each year, engaging both students and the community. Some notable special events include:
- Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School in Lutz hosts a field day featuring music from Spirit FM and collects blankets for those in need throughout the week.
- Christ the King Catholic School in Tampa welcomes Davis Watts, Maria Pendleton, and Geovanny Hillis from Spirit FM for music, games, and fun.
- Sacred Heart Catholic School in Pinellas Park hosts a family picnic and make cards for seminarians.
- St. Jerome Early Childhood Center in Largo hosts a special story time and have a grandparents day celebration.
- Cathedral School of St. Jude in St. Petersburg spends time making cards for veterans and hosts a schoolwide day of prayer, where each hour the entire school pauses to pray together as a community.
- Blessed Sacrament Catholic School in Seminole collects stuffed animals which are given to the local sheriff’s department for children experiencing traumatic situations. This year, 404 stuffed animals were donated.
- St. Cecelia Interparochial School in Clearwater welcomes John Morris, station manager at Spirit FM, for the Great American Teach-In, where he presents about this history of Spirit FM, its impact, and the importance of media.
- Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Dunedin welcomes Olivia Hoegstrom, host of The More Music Midday on Spirit FM, to join her sons at the school’s Parent Picnic.
- St. Petersburg Catholic High School in St. Petersburg hosts their annual Day of Service during which students serve at various sites and throughout their local community.
