Each year, Catholic schools around the country celebrate Catholic Schools Week, focusing on the many great benefits of Catholic education. This year’s Catholic Schools Week takes place January 25 – 31.
Each year, Catholic schools around the country celebrate Catholic Schools Week, focusing on the many great benefits of Catholic education. This year’s Catholic Schools Week takes place January 25 – 31.
Throughout our diocese, schools participate in a variety of events to celebrate this occasion. These often range from fundraising and service opportunities to field days to intentional moments of prayer for vocations.
There are many reasons that a parent may choose a Catholic school for their child’s education. The National Catholic Educational Association provides 12 reasons to choose Catholic schools:
- Offers an education that combines Catholic faith and teachings with academic excellence
- Partners with parents in the faith formation of their children
- Sets high standards for student achievement and helps them succeed
- Provides a balanced academic curriculum that integrates faith, culture, and life

Monday: Celebrating Your Community
Serving others is an important aspect of Catholic education.
Tuesday: Celebrating Your Students
Schools celebrate their students on this day with enjoyable activities.
Wednesday: Celebrating the Nation
This day is National Appreciation Day for Catholic Schools and the value of Catholic education is shared with government leaders.
Thursday: Celebrating Vocations
The focus on the faith at Catholic schools prepares students to follow God’s will in their lives.
Friday: Celebrating Faculty, Staff, and Volunteers
Schools honor teachers, principals, administrators, and staff who support and serve the daily functions of Catholic schools.
Saturday: Celebrating Families
Parents, guardians, and other family members are vital to the success of Catholic education and support the faith and education in children at home.
