Celebrate Catholic Education January 25 – 31

Each year, Catholic schools around the country celebrate Catholic Schools Week, focusing on the many great benefits of Catholic education. This year’s Catholic Schools Week takes place January 25 – 31.

Throughout our diocese, schools participate in a variety of events to celebrate this occasion. These often range from fundraising and service opportunities to field days to intentional moments of prayer for vocations.

There are many reasons that a parent may choose a Catholic school for their child’s education. The National Catholic Educational Association provides 12 reasons to choose Catholic schools:

  1. Offers an education that combines Catholic faith and teachings with academic excellence
  2. Partners with parents in the faith formation of their children
  3. Sets high standards for student achievement and helps them succeed
  4. Provides a balanced academic curriculum that integrates faith, culture, and life
  5. Uses technology effectively to enhance education
  6. Instills in students the value of service to others
  7. Teaches children respect of self and others
  8. Emphasizes moral development and self-discipline
  9. Prepares students to be productive citizens and future leaders
  10. Has a 99% high school graduation rate with 85% of graduates going to college
  11. Cultivates a faculty and staff of people who are dedicated, caring, and effective
  12. Provides a safe and welcoming environment for all
