Catholics Across the Diocese Gather in Prayer at the Second Annual March for Life

More than 1,000 Catholics from across the Diocese of Saint Petersburg and beyond came together over the weekend for the second annual March for Life Tampa, uniting in prayer and public witness to one of the Church’s most foundational teachings: that every human life is sacred and has inherent dignity from the moment of conception until natural death.

The day began at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tampa, where Bishop Gregory Parkes celebrated Mass for a packed congregation. The church was filled with families, young adults, students, clergy, and parishioners representing communities from throughout the diocese. During the liturgy, Bishop Parkes invited those in attendance to reflect on the value of human life, to pray for the protection of the unborn, and for healing and reconciliation for those who have experienced the pain of abortion.

After Mass, participants gathered outside the church to begin the peaceful, prayerful march. As the faithful made their way through the streets, many prayed the rosary, sang hymns, and carried signs affirming the dignity of life, offering a compassionate and hopeful presence to the wider community.

The march ended at Perry Harvey Sr. Park, where participants were greeted with music and worship. Attendees gathered to hear from speakers who shared personal testimonies, words of encouragement, and reminders of the Church’s call to accompany mothers, families, and all those facing difficult circumstances. Food trucks and Catholic vendors were present and provided fellowship, conversation, and connection among participants.

The March for Life served as a powerful expression of unity and faith. The event was a reminder of the Church’s commitment to supporting life at every stage through prayer, service, and compassion while all bearing witness together.
