Vietnamese Community Will Celebrate Thanksgiving Festival November 15th-17th

All are invited to attend a free event at Holy Martyrs of Vietnam Catholic Church, St. Petersburg.

The Annual Thanksgiving Festival will take place Friday, November 15th from 6 pm – 9 pm; Saturday, November 16th from 8:30 am – 9 pm; Sunday, November 17th 9:30 am – 11 am. This event is a celebration of Vietnamese tradition and faith. Activities include spiritual workshops, Mass, Adoration, and Confession.

New this year will be a Eucharistic procession with participants to pray for all those impacted by Hurricane Helene and Milton, including parishioners and staff members. The procession will be held on November 16th at 6:30 pm, following Mass.

The Thanksgiving Festival coincides with the Feast of the Martyrs of Vietnam on November 24th. This holy day honors the 117 faith leaders and unknown companions killed in Vietnam for their faith and canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1988. These include Saint Andrew Dũng-Lạc, and 21 missionaries from France and Spain, slain in Vietnam. Since the group was canonized, Vietnamese Catholics have held annual ceremonies to commemorate the martyrs.

Holy Martyrs of Vietnam Catholic Church offers Catholic Masses in Vietnamese and Vietnamese/English. The parish was named after the 117 Vietnamese Catholics who were killed for their faith in Vietnam in the 18th and 19th centuries.
