Sacred Heart Parish Hosts Eucharistic Procession

Parishioners of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dade City participated in a parish-wide Eucharistic Procession on Sunday, January 5, 2025, to honor the Eucharistic Lord during the Feast of the Epiphany.

Over 130 members of all ages participated in venerating the Eucharist.

Since his arrival at Sacred Heart Parish in July, Fr. Bob Romaine, Parochial Administrator, expanded Eucharistic Adoration (now weekly), added a monthly evening Eucharistic Adoration service with music and worship. He has also initiated additional confession times and a monthly anointing of individuals desiring the Sacrament of the Sick and instituted an educational program.

The procession, part of the Eucharistic Revival and organized in follow-up to Fr. Bob’s participation in the Eucharistic Congress last summer was held after the 10:30 a.m. Mass. It circled the parish walking path which was decorated with life-size Christmas cards sponsored by parishioners and included four stops, with a blessing offered at each stop for:

  1. Sacred Heart Parish and the Eastern Deanery.
  2. the Diocese of Saint Petersburg and the Universal Church
  3. Pasco County and the state of Florida
  4. our country

The procession concluded by returning to the church for Benediction, including a blessing for the whole world. Sacred Heart choir members led the participants in songs honoring the Christmas holiday as well as general songs of praise to the Lord.

Educational programs centered around the Eucharist will continue during the winter and spring with talks on The Fourth Cup, the Jubilee Year, Eucharistic Miracles, and Blessed Carlo Acutis, an Italian teenager who will be canonized this spring. Other topics may be covered as well. The final educational session for this spring will embody the message of the Eucharistic Congress and include the goal of “sending forth” disciples into the community.
