Providing a Safe Space in the Wake of Back to Back Hurricanes

The past few weeks have brought unforeseen challenges to Florida schools. Hurricanes Helene and Milton left a path of devastation, impacting many institutions, including our own St. John Vianney Catholic Church and School.

Despite the significant losses, the community's incredible resilience and unwavering support have provided hope. This spirit has established a safe space for students to regain a sense of normalcy as they resume their education.

St. John Vianney's faculty, staff, and students have been temporarily relocated across three locations to ensure continued learning. Starting this week (October 15th), Pre-K through Grade 5 students are at the Cathedral School of St. Jude the Apostle. Meanwhile, middle schoolers (Grades 6-8) are accommodated at St. Petersburg Catholic High School and the nearby Pastoral Center. Displaced parish staff will also be housed at the Pastoral Center.

Inspired by this example of community strength, let's continue to show compassion and support for one another.
