Mary, Mother of Life: A Marian Witness for the March for Life

At the Annunciation, Mary’s fiat stands as the ultimate pro-life witness, reminding us that respecting life begins with recognizing its divine origin.

Mary entrusts herself fully to God as she welcomes life at its most vulnerable stage. Her “yes” and her obedience affirm that every life is a sacred gift, worthy of love and protection.

Mary’s yes was not confined to one single moment. It unfolded into a lifelong commitment. She cared for Jesus in the womb, nurtured and protected him through his infancy and childhood. In doing so, Mary demonstrated that pro-life is more than defending life at its beginning; it is accepting responsibility for life as it grows and develops.

Mary’s model of love does not abandon life when it encounters difficult moments. It remains steadfast at every stage of life and through every circumstance. Her witness reaches its fullness as she stands at the foot of the cross, beside her dying Son, sharing in his suffering. Her presence proclaims that human dignity does not diminish with age, illness, or suffering. It remains sacred from conception until natural death.
In embracing Mary’s fiat, the Church is invited to renew its own yes – a yes that defends life in the womb, accompanies it through every stage, and remains faithfully present until the end.

Mary, Mother of Life, pray for us.

Join us for a Marian Procession honoring our Blessed Mother during this year’s March for Life. The procession will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, beginning at 9:00a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Tampa and concluding at Perry Harvey Sr. Park.

Participants are encouraged to bring statues, images, or banners of Our Blessed Mother as we walk together in prayer and witness to the dignity of life.
