Father Peter Okojie has a passion for his faith and for sharing the Gospel message via the digital tools of our time. He is a Nigerian-born priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, serving in the Diocese of Saint Petersburg. He studied at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum and at the Augustinian Patristic Pontifical Institute, both in Rome between 2014 and 2017. He interned with Vatican Radio/Vatican News in 2019. In 2020, he earned a master’s in digital media and storytelling from Loyola University Chicago.

Recently, he was back in Rome for a seminar on Communications and Evangelization offered at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross.

Now he is sharing with others what he learned. He is gathering with various groups at his parish, Our Lady of Fatima, in Inverness to give talks about his key takeaways from the seminar. He is also meeting with other priests to share the important messages from the seminar. His focus is on helping people discover Jesus Christ through our communication efforts.

“Evangelization is first and foremost, an act of love. We need to be in love with Jesus before we can introduce Jesus to others. This is essential,” said Father Okojie about his most impactful insights from the seminar.

During this Jubilee Year of Hope, and beyond, Father Okojie believes every type of Catholic communication should convey hope.

“In every communication, we should find a ray of hope, not just breaking news, not just the worst of the world. We should see hope and a way forward,” said Father Okojie.

Another important takeaway from the seminar is that artificial intelligence should never displace human intelligence.

â€śArtificial intelligence is a contradiction in terms. We should never accept AI as a substitute for human intelligence. It does not have a conscience or a soul,” said Father Okojie.

The “Communications and Evangelization Seminar” was held January 22-24, 2025. Speakers included Frère Paul-Adrien, Dominican priest and Youtuber; Montse Alvarado, president of EWTN News; Nicky Gumbel, Pioneer of Alpha Course; Erich Kerekes, president and co-founder of Hallo App; and Monsignor Rino Fisichella, pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization.
