Local Art Unveiling Showcases Powerful Scripture Passage

Beauty, Good, Truth. Catholicism has always led with beauty from ornate cathedrals to the blessed sacraments, beauty is ingrained in our faith. In the post-modern era of efficiency over aesthetics it can seem like beauty has taken the back seat.

Grand religious masterpieces commissioned by families like the Medici, draw us in but in all our modern knowledge, we have not been about to create anything remotely close to works like Michelangelo and Caravaggio. This gap in beauty is where the Tampa Ministry VU VI VO (V3) roots themselves, to Lead with Beauty.

Over the past few years VU VI VO has commissioned and unveiled several religious art pieces as well as showcased religious art around Tampa such as the new stained-glass windows installed in the Chapel of the Holy Cross at Jesuit High School.

The artist commissioned for 2025 was Morgan Irons, a fine artist from Montana, and her subject was the Widow of Nain from Luke 7:11-17. Morgan’s vision for her work, “In painting this scene, I wanted to honor the widow's central place in this narrative. Her experience of devastating loss, her moment of encountering unexpected compassion, her restoration to hope, these form the heart of the story. Before the miracle, before the crowd's amazement, there was simply a mother's grief met with divine tenderness.” This 6x5 foot painting was unveiled to a packed room at Armature Works on December 16, 2025 and the original artwork is now hanging at Tampa Covenant in Tampa.

Through partnership and collaboration VU VI VO Ministries is leading people to the Gospel through beauty, reigniting the heritage of the artistic masterpieces we all long for.

If you were unable to attend the Widow of Nain unveiling and would like to learn more of the story, the event was recorded for LAB the Podcast and is available to watch on YouTube: @VUVIVOV3

In the spirit of making these great works public, VU VI VO has an art loan program for churches and institutions to be able to hang VU VI VO’s Conservatory Art in their own space.
