“Let us renew our commitment to protect life”
In observance of Respect Life Month, Bishop Gregory Parkes shares this message on the importance of respecting, defending and promoting a culture of life.
In observance of Respect Life Month, Bishop Gregory Parkes shares this message on the importance of respecting, defending and promoting a culture of life.
In our nation and in our world, we have seen what happens when human life is devalued. Too many lives have been lost because of senseless acts of abortion, violence, war, drug abuse, and assisted suicide.
This month, let us renew our commitment to protect life at every stage and in every circumstance. Life, given to us by God, must be defended. We are called to provide hope and help to those who are struggling through challenges, such as poverty, mental illness, or oppression.
In a special way, let us pray for the most vulnerable of human life, the preborn babies developing in a mother’s womb.
May all mothers choose life, may mothers and children find the support they need, may there be an end to all abortion, and may our churches bring the Light of Christ to those in need.
Since this is also the month of the Holy Rosary, I invite you to pray a Rosary for the protection of all human life. May Mary, Mother of Life, intercede for us that we may be the instruments through which life is respected, defended, and promoted.
