Families of Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School Serve at Tampa Hope

On Friday, September 19, 2025, families from Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School—made up of both parents and students—joyfully volunteered to serve dinner to the homeless at Tampa Hope. Through their hands, hearts, and smiles, Christ’s love was made present in a tangible way.

Maschio’s Food Services generously provided and prepared the meal, offering a delicious spread of salad, a potato bar with chili, sodas, and cookies. The food was a hit with everyone who gathered, filling both stomachs and spirits.

For many of the volunteers, the evening was more than a service opportunity—it was a moment of spiritual growth.
Mrs. Ivonne Zablah, a parent of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, shared:

“Feeding the homeless has deepened my faith by reminding me that every person is a child of God, deserving of love, dignity, and compassion. When I serve others, I see Christ in them, and it strengthens my belief that God calls us to be His hands and feet in the world. It moves my heart to gratitude—not only for what I have, but also for the opportunity to give.”

Mrs. Jennifer Dowding, another parent volunteer, reflected on the experience:

“I didn’t realize the level of security or resources that the Catholic Church provides for these people. I saw Christ in the homeless people thanking us and talking to us as we served. I saw it in the parents who were also volunteering with their kids and trying to teach them about serving others.”

This act of service not only supported those in need but also strengthened the school community’s commitment to living out the Gospel message. As Christ reminds us in the Gospel of Matthew:

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me.” – Matthew 25:40

For the families of Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School, evenings like this are a living expression of the school’s mission—to form students who exemplify integrity, responsibility, and compassion while joyfully serving others in Christ’s name.
