The Community Impact Grant Brings Women of Faith Together

On Saturday, March 29, 2025, over 100 women gathered for Spirit FM’s Spring Women of Worth Event at The Bailey Center on the campus of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Spirit FM’s Women of Worth events are retreats held in parishes across the Diocese. Each event has a different theme, ranging from craft nights to morning retreats with speakers. “These Women of Worth events have been a tremendous blessing to many women,” said Olivia Hoegstrom, host of the More Music Middays at Spirit FM. “Given their busy schedules, offering multiple events across the Diocese has provided greater opportunities for participation, reaching more women than a single annual event would allow.”

Saturday’s line-up offered a variety intended to enhance the attendee experience. It included praise and worship led by Spirit FM Evenings Announcer Francesca Bauer, a meditative prayer exercise and talk by Sister Angela of the Disciples of the Lord Jesus, community-building time, and a journaling workshop led by Dr. Diane Masiello, a teacher at Academy of the Holy Names High School and author.

“This Women of Worth event was a beautiful camaraderie of women who experienced and shared the love of our faith,” shared Christina Giorgianni, event participant. “The speakers encouraged you to persevere through your trials but also awakened you to the beauty of surrender.”

“I believe it makes Jesus happy when we grow and educate ourselves in our Catholic faith. Women of Worth events are a perfect opportunity for just that,” said Mary Pederson, another attendee. “I love learning different ways to worship and pray and be around like-minded women who put God first in their families.”

This Spring’s Women of Worth event was made possible by the Community Impact Grant. The Community Impact Grant Program started in 2023 as a way to fund initiatives within the Diocese which carry out its mission of Courageously Living the Gospel. The grant is currently funded through the Diocese of Saint Petersburg’s fundraising efforts from last year’s Giving Tuesday and the End of Year Giving Challenge and administered by the Catholic Foundation. The joint effort allows every dollar raised to fund  future grant cycles.
