In a remarkable blend of faith and modern media, Father Mike Muhr, a Catholic priest based in St. Petersburg, has achieved notable acclaim for his podcast, Seeds of Hope, which was recently ranked in the top 2.5% of podcasts globally by Listen Notes.
Launched in 2020 in the midst of COVID shutdowns, Seeds of Hope offers weekly reflections on how to apply faith to life in the 21st century. Father Muhr is a master storyteller who connects his personal experiences and life lessons to faith in a compelling way. He includes cultural references and familiar examples to engage listeners.
Sadly, he almost had to give up podcasting because of an illness that affected his voice. However, he persisted and is now reaching hundreds of people each week who may never enter the doors of his parish, St. Brendan Catholic Church, in Clearwater.
“Podcasting allows me to reach people where they are — in their cars, on their walks, during quiet moments at home,” said Father Muhr. “It’s a way to give people hope and that makes all of the struggle worth it.”
