As the world watches and waits for health news about Pope Francis, Bishop Parkes is inviting the faithful to keep our Holy Father in prayer.
On Facebook and Instagram, Bishop Parkes stated, “We continue to keep Pope Francis in prayer. We ask for God’s holy and healing blessing upon him during this time of illness. May he be strengthened by the certainty that God is with him in his suffering.”
Also, Bishop Parkes has been sharing regular statements from the Vatican on the pope’s health via social media.
Pope Francis is prayed for during all Masses in all churches of the Diocese of Saint Petersburg. Diocesan leaders are receiving updates on the pope’s health via official Vatican news sources and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Here is a prayer for Pope Francis from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
O God, shepherd and ruler of all the faithful,
look favorably on your servant Francis,
whom you have set at the head of your Church as her shepherd;
Grant, we pray, that by word and example
he may be of service to those over whom he presides so that,
together with the flock entrusted to his care,
he may come to everlasting life.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the
unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
