Sacred Heart Parish in Dade City held its second annual Eucharistic Procession on Sunday, January 4, 2026, after the 10:30am Mass.
At the conclusion of Mass, the Blessed Sacrament was placed in the monstrance while parishioners prayed and sang. The congregation then followed Pastor Robert G. Romaine, who carried the monstrance with our Lord around the parish circle. Along the route, the procession passed Christmas “card” decorations erected by parish groups and families, pausing at four designated stations along the procession route.
At each stop, Fr. Romaine imparted blessings for the parish, the local community, the Diocese of Saint Petersburg, the state, and the world. The procession was led by a group of altar servers and individuals carrying an image of Divine Mercy. Members of the local Knights of Columbus council stood in reverent guard at each station, awaiting the arrival of the Eucharistic Lord, before joining the procession at the conclusion of each blessing.
Parishioners of all ages – from young children to retirees – participated in the procession, joining choir leaders in songs of praise to God as the procession moved between stations.
Due to strong participation, the role of canopy carrier was rotated at various stops along the route to allow more people to participate. Chairs were set up at a designated viewing location on the parish grounds so those with physical limitations could participate in witnessing this procession.
The procession concluded at the church, where participants joined in Benediction prayers and received a final blessing before the Eucharist was returned to the tabernacle.
This event focusing on the Eucharist mirrored the parish’s inaugural procession and provided a fitting conclusion to the Christmas season. The celebration also unveiled a new procession canopy, purchased by members of the Sacred Heart Eucharistic Procession Committee. This witness of shared faith strengthened the Sacred Heart parish community and served as a powerful expression of the parish’s devotion to the Eucharistic Lord.
